Prof. Dr. Nadjma Yassari is an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Hamburg and serves as Director of the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law. She has been affiliated with the Max Planck Institute for Private Law since 2000 and leads the research group The Law of God in Transition: Comparative Law in Family and Inheritance Law in Islamic Countries since 2009.
- Education: Studied law at Vienna Juridicum, Université René Descartes Paris V, and Innsbruck Faculty of Law; earned doctorate (1999) and habilitation (2016) from University of Hamburg; LL.M. from SOAS, University of London (2000).
Her research focuses on Private International Law, Islamic family and inheritance law, and comparative legal analysis of Islamic countries in the Middle East, Iran, and Afghanistan. She combines doctrinal legal research with cross-cultural comparisons, emphasizing the interplay between Islamic legal traditions and modern legal systems.
