معرفی
Anne-Laure Faucon is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm. She is also a senior nephrologist specialized in clinical nephrology and renal physiology. Her current position at Karolinska Institutet began in 2022, following a postdoctoral position at Paris-Saclay University from 2020-2022.
Her educational background includes:
- PhD in renal epidemiology, Paris-Saclay University (2017-2020)
- Master of sciences in epidemiology-biostatistics, Paris-Saclay University (2017)
- Master of sciences in renal physiology, Paris-Descartes University (2013)
- Specialization in Nephrology and Doctor of Medicine (2014)
- Residency (2009-2014)
Anne-Laure's research focuses on chronic kidney disease (CKD) across its different stages, etiologies, and complications. She aims to identify modifiable risk factors and biomarkers of CKD progression, contribute to better characterization of CKD prognosis, improve risk stratification, and assess real-life clinical management associated with improved outcomes. She bridges clinical nephrology, physiology, and epidemiology-biostatistics, applying causal inference methods to large healthcare cohort and registry data including the French NephroTest and CKD-REIN cohorts, Swedish Renal Registry, Stockholm CREAtinine Measurement project, and the Swedish KIdney Pathology cohort.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on kidney function metrics, CKD progression, cardiovascular complications in kidney disease, and the intersection of kidney disease with other conditions like inflammatory bowel disease and lupus nephritis. She frequently utilizes large Swedish registry data including the Stockholm CREAtinine Measurements (SCREAM) project.
Anne-Laure has received notable recognition including the upcoming ERA Curatorium Award for Young Investigators – Young Nephrologist (2025) and being named a Laureate of the French National Academy of Medicine for her work in renal physiology.
She currently supervises three doctoral students (Antoine Créon, Aurora Caldinelli, and Charikleia Chrysostomou) and has previously supervised several other researchers. Anne-Laure also teaches renal physiology at Karolinska Institutet since 2024, continuing her previous teaching roles at the Paris Medical School.
She is part of the Cardio-renal epidemiology research group led by Juan-Jesus Carrero at Karolinska Institutet, focusing on the intersection of kidney and cardiovascular diseases.
