معرفی
Anne Geoffroy is a Lecturer in 16th and 17th Century British Literature and Cultural History at the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. She is affiliated with the Institute of Cultural and International Studies (IECI) and the Department of Languages, conducting research at the intersection of literature, cultural history, and the history of representations. Her work focuses on the appropriation of Italian culture in Early Modern England (16th–17th centuries), with a particular emphasis on Venetian themes.
Geoffroy earned a PhD in 2008 with a thesis titled The Genesis of a Fascination: Cultural Representations of Venice in Early Modern England (1549–1642). Her teaching includes courses such as LHANG 201, LHANG 421, and LHANG 5A4, covering British literature and civilization.
Her research explores Anglo-Italian cultural exchanges, especially Venetian art, censorship, and political representations. This is evident in her publications, which analyze Venetian influence in works by Thomas Coryate, George Gascoigne, Robert Greene, and Shakespeare, as well as chromatic symbolism and censorship dynamics in Early Modern England.
Geoffroy contributes to the Dynamic Heritage and Cultural Laboratory (DYPAC) and has participated in international conferences hosted by institutions like the University of Aix-en-Provence and the French Shakespeare Society. Her work also intersects with digital humanities through platforms like La clé des langues and Cahiers Shakespeare en Devenir.
