Anne Doncaster is a Lecturer in Digital Media Production at the Department of Media Arts and Communication. She specializes in Interactive Design, Interactive Documentaries, and 360 VR Video, blending academic research with industry expertise from roles at Google and Doc Fest/Crossover Labs.
Her research focuses on emerging technologies in media production. Key projects include conducting a workshop at the Doc/Fest/Crossover Lab in 2015 on Interactive Documentaries and collaborating with a Sheffield-based VR company on 360 VR Video applications for cultural heritage. She actively integrates industry insights into her teaching through guest lectures and networking.
Recent publications/exhibitions highlight her work in immersive media, including 360 VR Film of Phlegm's Mausoleum of the Giants Exhibition (2024) and Sheffield VeRSe (2017). Her research explores technical innovations in VR and their pedagogical applications.
She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and co-creator of the POP Initiatives, which enhance student ownership of courses and industry engagement. Her work has been supported by Arts Council funding for experimental VR projects.
