Jenny Wotherspoon is a Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Social Media Management and a Lecturer at the University of Sunderland. She is an award-winning online video journalist and content creator with professional experience at Sky, the Guardian, the Telegraph, Daily Mail, and Good Morning Britain. Her work includes producing videos for Sky’s regional project Sky Tyne and Wear.
In teaching, she introduced video journalism into journalism courses and launched the live news programme Word on Wearside with students. She focuses on digital storytelling, social media analytics, and emerging technologies in journalism.
Her research explores new technologies in journalism (e.g., 360° and VR), social media industry roles, and data-driven journalism strategies. She maintains active profiles on Twitter (@VJ_Jen) and YouTube (youtube.com/user/jenwotherspoon).
