Anne Boyter

Anne Boyter is Professor of Learning & Teaching at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS), University of Strathclyde, where she also serves as Programme Director for the MPharm degree. She holds a PhD and MSc in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Strathclyde and a BSc in Pharmacy from Heriot-Watt University, along with a postgraduate certificate in Health Economics from the University of Aberdeen.

Anne's research focuses on respiratory medicine, infection, and health evaluation, with particular emphasis on the clinical impact of inhaled therapies, bacterial contamination of inhalers, drug utilisation, and pharmacoepidemiology. She also leads innovation in pharmacy education through e-learning tools like the SCRIPT program and research in experiential and interprofessional learning. Her recent publications reflect a strong trend toward improving pharmacy education, professional competencies, and antibiotic stewardship, especially in clinical and international settings.

She has received notable recognition, including:

Anne actively supervises student research and leads multiple projects in collaboration with NHS Education for Scotland, focusing on curriculum development, preceptorship, and interprofessional training. She plays a vital role in national pharmacy policy as a member of the Scottish Pharmacy Board (RPS) and co-chair of the pharmacology group for the SIGN/BTS Asthma guideline. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
