Annamaria Costa is an Associate Professor at the University of Milan specializing in Animal Science and Veterinary disciplines. She teaches core courses including 'Elements of Construction and Technologies for Animal Management', 'Renewable Energy and Energy Saving in Agro-Livestock Systems', and 'Veterinary Statistical Methods Applied to Epidemiology and Animal Sciences' across undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs in livestock welfare and veterinary sciences.
Her academic background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Production Sciences, PhD in Animal Nutrition and Livestock Technology, Specialization in Animal Nutrition, and licensure as an Agronomist. She graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Milan.
Dr. Costa's research integrates engineering solutions with animal welfare, focusing on sustainable livestock systems through sensor technologies, energy efficiency, and statistical epidemiology. Her work bridges agricultural engineering and veterinary medicine to optimize animal management practices while reducing environmental impact.
She leads the Bioengineering, Mechanization, and Sensors Laboratory at the Experimental Zootechnical Educational Center, directing research in precision livestock farming technologies and low-impact construction for animal facilities.
