Anna von Reden is a Professor for Conservation and Restoration of Paintings and Painted Sculptures at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart. Her expertise lies in understanding the hygric behavior of aged canvases and the material science of conservation. She has held teaching assignments at the Technical University of Munich and worked as a self-employed restorer in Munich and Schwerin.

She has contributed to advancements in understanding color alteration in 17th-century Dutch paintings and standardized testing for canvas strength.
Anna von Reden has collaborated on significant projects, including a Getty Foundation-funded study on paint layer clouding. Her publications emphasize interdisciplinary approaches in conservation science, integrating art history and material analysis.
