Anna Unger is a Sessional Lecturer at King’s College London, holding dual affiliations with the Defence Studies Department and the Department of European & International Studies. She holds a PhD in Defence and Security Studies from King’s College London, an MA in International Security from the University of Sussex, and two bachelor’s degrees: a BA (Hons) in Marketing from the University of Hull and a BA in International Relations from Corvinus University of Budapest.
Her research focuses on European and EU security and defense, including EU military capability development, defense industrial cooperation, and EU-led crisis management operations. She also examines EU-UK defense collaboration post-Brexit. Her work bridges defense strategy and diplomatic relations, anchored in the Defence & Diplomacy research theme at King’s, which explores security cooperation between international actors.
Prior to academia, Anna served at the Hungarian Ministry of Defence and held diplomatic roles as a defense counselor at Hungary’s Permanent Representation to the European Union. She teaches courses such as Allies in Arms: Security Cooperation in a Competitive Edge and contributes to programs at the Joint Services Command and Staff College, Defence Academy of the UK.
