Markovska’s research explores the intersections of organized crime, corruption, and transnational policing in post-Soviet states. Her work emphasizes Ukraine's unique challenges in justice reform, migrant worker dynamics, and corporate criminality across cultural settings. She has led comparative studies on eco-crime, illegal gambling, and the political dimensions of frozen conflicts.
Her recent publications analyze eco-crime governance, white-collar criminality, and corporate corruption in Ukraine. Themes include transnational crime, comparative criminal justice, and the socio-political legacies of post-Soviet transitions. She has presented at conferences such as the European Society of Criminology and Cross-Border Crime Colloquium.
Anna Markovska secured British Academy grants (2007, 2010) for research on drug-crime connections and migrant worker-crime dynamics. She co-organized the 14th Cross-Border Crime Colloquium and remains an active member of the European Society of Criminology.
