Anna-Maria Jansson serves as a University Lecturer at Mid Sweden University within the Department of Economics, Geography, Law and Tourism (EJT), based in Östersund and Sundsvall. Affiliated with the Center for Research on Economic Relations (CER), she conducts research at the intersection of accounting practices and sustainable territorial development, with particular emphasis on rural industrial parks and large-scale sustainable establishments across European contexts.
Her research interests span auditing methodologies, accounting transformation processes, and sustainable development frameworks in rural Europe. She investigates municipal decision-making for industrial park development, competence supply challenges in remote regions, and the critical role of education systems in regional economic growth. Her work bridges economic geography with practical business solutions, focusing on how rural communities can achieve sustainable industrialization while maintaining environmental and social integrity.
Recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrate a pronounced shift toward sustainable territorial development, particularly examining factors influencing municipalities during large industrial park establishment. Her work reveals consistent collaboration patterns with researchers including Sörensson, Faith-Ell, Lindvert, and Bogren, forming a core team addressing European rural development challenges. Earlier publications (2003-2010) established her expertise in auditing perspectives, quality certification systems, and auditor loyalty dynamics within concentrated markets.
Jansson currently leads two major research initiatives: a preparatory study on residential areas adjacent to sustainable establishments and research on accounting/auditing transformation. Previously, she completed work on 'Large Sustainable Establishments,' developing frameworks for municipal management of major industrial projects. Her ongoing projects directly address urgent challenges faced by rural communities seeking economic development through sustainable industrialization.
