Anna Majer is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba, and serves as the lead research scientist at the Enterovirus and Enteric Viruses Laboratory within the National Microbiology Laboratory Branch (NMLB) in Winnipeg.

Her research focuses on the molecular epidemiology and pathogenicity of enteric viruses, particularly those causing severe diseases like aseptic meningitis and paralysis. By combining molecular epidemiology with systems biology, her lab investigates viral genetic traits and mechanisms to identify therapeutic targets.
Dr. Majer’s work emphasizes improving population-level surveillance tools for enteric viruses and elucidating their disease-causing pathways. She currently accepts Master's and PhD students for collaborative research.
