Anna M. Randi

Anna M. Randi is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Head of Vascular Sciences at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London, within the Faculty of Medicine. Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms in vascular biology and haemostasis.

Her academic training includes work with Prof. Mannucci at the University of Milan and Dr. Sadler at Washington University, St. Louis, where she contributed to the first characterization of von Willebrand factor gene mutations. She established her laboratory at Imperial College London in 2004 after prior work at GlaxoSmithKline.

Professor Randi's laboratory investigates transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of endothelial homeostasis, angiogenesis, and vascular stability. Key contributions include identifying von Willebrand factor as an angiogenesis regulator and pioneering the use of endothelial colony-forming cells (ECFC) to model congenital bleeding disorders and cardiovascular diseases. Her work bridges basic science with clinical applications in haemostasis and thrombosis.

She actively mentors young researchers with emphasis on gender equality, serves on international review panels, and was Scientific Chair for the 2022 ISTH meeting in London.
