معرفی
Ann Rowan is a Professor in Quaternary Geology and Palaeoclimate at the University of Bergen's Department of Earth Science. She holds visiting roles at the University of Lausanne (Fondation Herbette Professor) and the University of Canterbury. Her research focuses on glacial geomorphology as a climate archive and mountain glacier dynamics under climate change.
Education: BSc in Environmental and Resource Geology (2007) and PhD in Earth Science (2012) from the University of Manchester. Postdoctoral roles included Research Fellowships at Aberystwyth University and the University of Sheffield (Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellow). Career breaks occurred around the births of her children in 2016 and 2019.
Research Interests: Holocene climate reconstruction via glacial moraines, debris-covered glacier dynamics, and glacial responses to anthropogenic climate change. Techniques include cosmogenic dating, remote sensing, and numerical modeling.
Teaching: Leads courses in Quaternary Geology (GEOV225), Earth Science Informatics (GEOV181), and contributes to Glacial Geology (GEOV230).
Awards:
- Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellowship
- Fondation Herbette Visiting Professorship (2022)
- Upcoming Erskine Fellowship (2025)
Grants:
- UK NERC "Losing their Cool" Project (2024-2027)
- Quaternary Research Association/Everest Foundation Grant (2024-2025)
Labs/Teams: Part of the Quaternary Geology and Paleoclimate Research Group at UiB and affiliated with the Bjerknessenteret.
