معرفی
Bethan Davies is a Senior Lecturer in Quaternary Science at the Department of Geography, Royal Holloway, University of London. She leads the MSc in Quaternary Science and is Schools Liaison and Outreach Lead. Her research focuses on glacial geology and ice-sheet dynamics, with expertise in cosmogenic nuclide dating and numerical modelling.
Education:
- PhD in Quaternary Geology, Durham University (2009)
- MSc Quaternary Science, Royal Holloway, University of London (2004)
- BA (Hons) Geography, Nottingham University (2001)
Research Interests: Interaction between glaciers and climate, ice-sheet reconstruction in polar and temperate regions, Antarctic Peninsula and Patagonian Ice Sheet dynamics. Current projects include glacial processes at ice-bed interfaces and future glacier behaviour under climate change.
Key Awards:
- Certificate of Excellence in Geological Education (2020)
- Geographical Association Silver Publishers Award (2021)
- Gordon Warwick Award (2021)
Teaching & Grants: Supervised four PhD students on glacial topics. Served on grant review panels for NERC (UK), NSF (USA), and others. Editor of Frontiers in Earth Science, Scientific Reports, and Open Quaternary.
Outreach: Maintains AntarcticGlaciers.org, participates in public science events, and advises on Antarctic placenames.
