معرفی
Sam Kelley is a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Quaternary Geology at the School of Earth Sciences, University College Dublin since April 2019. He holds degrees from Dalhousie University (BSc, 2007), University of Maine (MSc, 2009), and University at Buffalo (PhD, 2014). His research focuses on glacial geology, ice sheet dynamics, and cosmogenic nuclide dating, with applications in paleoclimate and resource exploration.
Education: BSc Geology (Dalhousie), MSc Quaternary & Climate Studies (University of Maine), PhD Geology (SUNY Buffalo). Prior to UCD, he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow and Lecturer at the University of Waterloo (Canada).
Research interests include glacial-geologic archives, terrestrial cosmogenic nuclides (TCN), ice sheet stability, and sediment provenance analysis. He uses TCNs to date glacial retreat and assess landscape evolution. Recent grants include a Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) project on ice-sheet instability and a UCD Earth Institute grant for fieldwork in Lava Beds National Monument.
Teaching responsibilities include coordinating modules like 'Applied Quaternary Geology' and 'Quaternary Geology.' He supervises PhD/MSc students and has extensive experience in field geology and geomodeling. Professional activities include editorial roles for the Journal of Sedimentary Research and peer reviewing for journals like Nature Communications and Quaternary Science Reviews.
