Ann Mantil is a Lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) and a Senior Research Associate at the Annenberg Institute at Brown University. She holds an Ed.D. from HGSE (2018) and an M.P.A. from Princeton University (1998). Her expertise lies in K-12 education policy, equity, and research, with a focus on systemic barriers in education access and transitions to the workforce.
Research interests include high-stakes exit exams’ equity impacts, immigrant students’ experiences in Massachusetts high schools, and evidence-based educational testing practices. Her work has informed state-level policy and been featured in Boston Globe, Education Week, and Commonwealth Magazine.
Teaching focuses on evidence use and testing in education. She co-leads the Educational Opportunity in Massachusetts project, analyzing K-16 progression pathways. Prior roles include 9 years as a charter school teacher/administrator in Oakland and D.C., plus strategic planning roles in school districts and the New Jersey Department of Education.
