Dr. Ann M Celestini is an Associate Professor (Teaching Intensive) at the Trent/Fleming School of Nursing, Trent University. She holds a BA, BScN from Windsor, and advanced degrees (MHS, EdD) from Athabasca University. Her expertise spans 30 years in nursing, integrating clinical, administrative, and educational roles. Since 2013, she has taught across all four years of the BScN program, emphasizing inclusive pedagogy and experiential learning methods like simulation and serious gaming. She co-developed a graduate-level mental health and addiction nursing program (2018) and pioneered a UDL-driven nursing course (NURS 1000) using unfolding case studies to address trauma-informed care and inclusivity. Her research focuses on stress management, complementary therapies, and universal design in education.
Dr. Celestini leads interdisciplinary projects, including a holistic health assessment tool blending Indigenous Medicine Wheel teachings with biomedical practices. She has secured internal grants for studies on student experiences of inclusivity and trauma-informed care pedagogy. Her work has been published in journals such as Quality Advancement in Nursing Education and the Canadian Journal of Learning and Technology.
She collaborates with institutions like the First Peoples House of Learning and Library Sciences, offering research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. Her grants and awards include funding for mixed-methods studies on nursing education innovations.
