Dr. Ann L. Heatherington is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Florida, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. from Washington University, St. Louis, awarded in 1988. Her research focuses on applying geochronologic and geochemical techniques to tectonic problems in continental and oceanic environments, including studies of the Southeast Coastal Plain basement and Grenville-age terranes in the southeastern U.S., as well as the evolution of the Wyoming craton.
Dr. Heatherington oversees critical laboratory facilities: managing thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) equipment within the department. These facilities support her research and teaching activities in isotope geology and tectonics.
