Dr. Ann Folino White is an Associate Professor and Head of Theatre Studies; Directing at Michigan State University's Department of Theatre (College of Arts & Letters). She holds a B.A. in Theatre from MSU, an M.A. in Theatre from Northwestern University, and a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Theatre and Drama with a Gender Studies Certificate from Northwestern.
Her research specializes in American theatrical and popular performance (late-19th to early-20th century), protest performances, and performance theory. She has published extensively on American drama and food-theatre intersections, including the award-winning book Plowed Under: Food Policy Protests and Performance in New Deal America.

She has directed numerous MSU productions, including Macbeth, The Grapes of Wrath, and her adaptation of The Lady Victory. She previously served as dramaturg for Chicago theatres and as a play reader for Steppenwolf Theatre Company.
