Anita Anand is a Professor of Law at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where she held the J.R. Kimber Chair in Investor Protection and Corporate Governance (2016–2019). She serves as Academic Director of the Centre for the Legal Profession and the Program on Ethics in Law and Business (on leave). Her cross-appointments include the Rotman School of Management (2017–present) and the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (2009–present).

An internationally recognized expert in securities regulation, corporate governance, and financial market ethics, her research explores systemic risk, regulatory design, and shareholder rights. She has published extensively on topics like dual-class share structures, insider trading enforcement, and diversity on corporate boards. Her empirical work often collaborates with economists and finance scholars.
Her 15 most recent publications (2013–2019) span disciplines such as corporate governance, securities law, financial ethics, and comparative legal analysis. Themes include regulatory reform, shareholder activism, and crisis-driven financial policies.

She has served on numerous advisory and regulatory bodies, including the Ontario Securities Commission’s Investor Advisory Panel (2010–2012), the Expert Committee on Financial Advisory Policy (2015–2016), and the Commission of Inquiry into the Air India Flight Bombing (2006–2007). Her work bridges academia, policy, and public advocacy.
