Anisha Patel, DO, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Endocrinology) at Yale School of Medicine and a founding member of the Yale Gender Program. She specializes in pediatric endocrinology, diabetes, and gender-affirming care for transgender youth. Her clinical focus includes growth disorders, diabetes management, and reproductive options for transgender individuals.
Dr. Patel completed her DO at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine (2004), residency at the University Hospital of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (2007), and fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine (2010). She holds a BS in Psychobiology from SUNY Binghamton (1997).
Her research emphasizes ethical considerations in transgender youth care, advancements in diabetes treatment, and health equity. Notable awards include the 2009 First Prize Award at the Yale School of Medicine Research Symposium and multiple travel grants from the Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society.
Dr. Patel is actively involved in professional organizations, including the Endocrine Society, American Academy of Pediatrics, and American Osteopathic Association. She has authored/co-authored studies on diabetes complications, gender-affirming care, and translational health interventions.
