Anina Schwarzenbach is a sociologist and senior researcher at the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology within the Faculty of Law at the University of Bern. She also serves as a research associate with the Institute of Sociological Research at the University of Geneva. Her work integrates computational social science with traditional sociological methods to explore topics such as social norms, inequalities, resilience, and the impact of digital technologies on democratic societies.
- Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Freiburg
- LL.M. in criminology from Swiss universities
- M.A. in communication science and economics from Bern and Zurich
Research Areas:
Social Identity Representation – Analyzing digital discourse on extremism and public opinion;
Democratic Norms and AI – Investigating AI’s influence on democratic institutions;
Networks of Political Violence – Studying social structures of violent groups.
