Dr. Angie Kennedy is a Professor at Michigan State University's School of Social Work and a Faculty Fellow at the Center for Gender in Global Context. Her research focuses on interpersonal violence, particularly partner violence and cumulative victimization, examining how social and economic forces influence mental health, stigma, and educational/economic outcomes among marginalized adolescents and young adults.

Using sociological frameworks like stress process models and life course theory, she employs mixed methods including life history calendars, grounded theory, and multilevel modeling. Current projects funded by the National Institute on Minority Health, Office of Violence Against Women, National Science Foundation, and MSU explore debt coercion in abusive marriages, violence trajectories among transgender women, and campus sexual assault risk factors.
Her work advances feminist methodology and interpersonal violence research through innovative theoretical and data collection techniques. She is affiliated with the Center for Gender in Global Context, which supports her interdisciplinary research.
