Angie Fearon is a Clinical Associate Professor in Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra, combining teaching and clinical research with over 35 years of clinical experience. She leads research into Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome (GTPS), focusing on diagnosis, disease burden, and treatment efficacy. Her work includes developing best practice guidelines for musculoskeletal conditions and improving healthcare access for aging populations. She maintains a private practice (Hip Physio) and has collaborated with institutions like Queen Mary University London and Canberra Health Services. Fearon has secured over $2M in research grants and supervised numerous students to honors and HDBR completion.
Education: PhD, M(Phty), B(AppSc). Notable collaborations include projects on snow sports athlete performance, dementia care in aged facilities, and knee osteoarthritis surgical triage. Awards include the 2010 Wendy Ye Award and 2022 Dementia Advocates Award (team). Currently supervising research on tendon treatments, MSK sleep disturbances, and hip OA interventions.
Research highlights include systematic reviews on post-arthroplasty hip pain and Achilles tendinopathy rehabilitation barriers. Active projects aim to disseminate best practices, enhance allied health services, and optimize injury prevention in sports.
