Professor Angharad Davies is a clinical academic medical microbiologist at Swansea University Medical School, holding an honorary consultant role at Public Health Wales's National Cryptosporidium Reference Unit. She specializes in infectious disease diagnostics, antimicrobial resistance education, and medical microbiology. Her roles include Vice-President of the Medical Women's Federation, Clinical Director for Publishing and Engagement at the Royal College of Pathologists, and Wales' former Infection Specialty Lead for Health and Care Research.
Professor Davies leads educational initiatives such as the Wales Antimicrobial Resistance Delivery Board's training programs and the MSc in Genomic Medicine. She has contributed to over 100 peer-reviewed publications, focusing on Cryptosporidium research, tuberculosis genomics, and biofilm pathogenesis. Her work bridges clinical practice, education, and policy, emphasizing interprofessional collaboration in healthcare.
Key achievements include establishing the AntibioticAware.com educational resource and leading a fecal microbiota transplantation feasibility study for ulcerative colitis. She is a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales and chairs the NIHR Capital Investment Fund panel.
