Angela Yesenia Olaya Requene serves as a Research Associate at the Afro-Latin American Research Institute (ALARI) within the Hutchins Center at Harvard University, where she previously coordinated the Certificate in Afro-Latin American Studies (2019-2020).
Her academic credentials include:
- PhD in Anthropology and Master's in Educational Policy and Pedagogy from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)
- Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Caldas, Colombia
Her research examines systemic inequalities through the intersection of race, class, and gender, focusing on forced migration and territorial displacement among Afro-descendant communities in Colombia and Haiti. This work critically analyzes political and economic exclusions within Latin American contexts.
