Angela Wiseman is an Associate Professor of Literacy Education at NC State University with affiliations at the University of Tampere (Finland) and San Diego State University's Center for Visual Literacies. Her work focuses on children's literature, trauma-informed approaches, visual research methods, and social justice. She co-leads the CIDRE grant, a professional development program integrating cultural lessons with digital tools for K-12 educators through international travel.
Her research emphasizes qualitative visual and multimodal methodologies, analyzing children's literature and community engagement. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Literature Assembly (National Council of Teachers of English). Recent grants include the Triangle Community Foundation-funded CIDRE (2019–2025) and community-focused initiatives addressing family literacy in marginalized populations.
