Dr. Angela Thomas serves as an Adjunct faculty member at Linfield University while holding executive leadership roles at MedStar Health, where she is Vice President for Healthcare Delivery Research and executive lead for the DC Safe Babies Safe Moms initiative targeting maternal and infant health disparities in Washington, D.C.
Her academic credentials include:
- B.S. in Biopsychology and Cognitive Sciences from the University of Michigan
- M.P.H. in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan School of Public Health
- MBA from Walsh College of Business
- Doctor of Public Health in Advanced Practice Leadership from the University of South Florida
Her research integrates healthcare administration, delivery systems, and public health leadership with emphasis on affordability, accessibility, safety, and quality improvement. She specializes in translating research into practice through initiatives addressing systemic inequities in maternal-child health outcomes, drawing from extensive experience managing clinical research operations in obstetrics/gynecology and cardiovascular fields.
As an educator, Dr. Thomas trains healthcare professionals in community health applications while leading cross-institutional teams including the MedStar Health Services Research Network. Her DC Safe Babies Safe Moms initiative demonstrates applied commitment to reducing racial and socioeconomic disparities through evidence-based community interventions.
Outside academia, she maintains active engagement in furniture restoration, creative writing, and family activities with her blended household of five adult children.
