Mark Schneider

Mark Schneider is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Brown University's Executive Master of Healthcare Leadership program, where he has taught courses on Information-Powered Patient Care, Electronic Health Records, and Data Analytics since 2012. He is also a Vice President at MedStar Health, a $5B healthcare provider organization in the Washington-Baltimore area, overseeing software procurement, implementation, and support across hospitals, clinics, and research entities.

• Education: MBA from Cornell University (1979), Biology and Psychology degrees from the University of Rochester.

Research interests include healthcare technology integration, EMR implementation, health information exchange, data security, and policy frameworks for medical information systems. His work has focused on aligning technology with organizational strategy while addressing patient safety, regulatory compliance, and interoperability challenges.

• Recipient of HIMSS Book of the Year award (1995) for co-authoring Patient Care Information Systems.

Professional roles span leadership positions in healthcare IT, including executive roles at MedStar Health and IDX/GE, as well as consulting work for Fortune 100 firms and foreign governments. He serves on the Maryland Health Information Exchange (HIE) executive board and chairs the HIE Board in Washington, D.C.
