Professor Angela McCarthy is a faculty member in the Department of History at the University of Otago. She serves as Director of the Centre for Global Migrations, an interdisciplinary research theme. Her roles include teaching courses on New Zealand history, global migrations, Irish and Scottish history, and revolutions.

Research Interests: Focused on global and comparative migrations, transnational history, and New Zealand's migration history. Editorial Roles: Co-edits the Studies in British and Irish Migration series (Edinburgh University Press) and serves on editorial boards for journals including History Scotland, International Review of Scottish Studies, and Disability Studies Quarterly.
Supervision Areas: Global migration studies, ethnicity, New Zealand/Scottish/Irish history, and the history of madness.
