Dr. Angela Jaap is a Senior Lecturer in Teacher Education at the University of Glasgow's School of Education. She holds a BEd (Hons) from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a PhD from the University of Glasgow (2011). Her career spans over 15 years in creative arts and teacher education, with roles at the University of Glasgow, University of Edinburgh, and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She has coordinated programs like PGDE (Music) and led initiatives to expand educational outreach. Professional roles include Senior Fellow of Advance HE (SFHEA), Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), and former President of the Scottish Educational Research Association (SERA, 2021-2023).
Her research focuses on arts education, high-ability studies, professional learning, and technology in education. Notable contributions include work on poverty's impact on schooling, inclusive pedagogy, and music curriculum development. She has published extensively in journals like Researching Education Bulletin and Support for Learning, and presented at conferences such as BERA and ECER. External examining includes PGDE programs at Dundee and the University of the Highlands and Islands.
Key initiatives include the Café Nero sessions for inclusive practice, the Wayfarers project using traditional music for cultural dialogue, and advocacy for expressive arts in primary education.
