Dr. Angela Girdley serves as a Lecturer in the School of Education at Baylor University, teaching in the EdD in Learning and Organizational Change program. She holds a Ph.D. in Education Leadership & Organizational Development from the University of Louisville and brings extensive experience in higher education administration, leadership development, and campus ministry.
Her educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in Education Leadership & Organizational Development, University of Louisville (2003)
- M.A. in Higher Education Administration, University of Louisville (2002)
- M.Div. in Christian Communication, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1989)
- B.M. in Music Education, University of Louisville (1986)
Dr. Girdley's research focuses on compassion fatigue among care workers, leadership development in organizational contexts, and higher education policy. Her work examines the psychological balance between emotional exhaustion and job satisfaction in compassionate leadership roles, particularly during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic. She investigates how clergy and support staff manage occupational stress while maintaining effective service delivery.
She has served as a dissertation director and held administrative roles including director of institutional research, faculty director, and IRB member. Her prior 16-year career as Director of Campus Ministry at the University of Louisville involved developing spiritual leadership programs and providing community guidance. Dr. Girdley actively presents at conferences such as the Mid-South Education Research Association and contributes to journals including Pastoral Psychology and the Journal of Psychology and Theology.
