Anette Månsson is an Associate Professor in Semitic Languages at Uppsala University's Department of Linguistics and Philology, holding this position since 2004 while also serving as an Educational Developer in University Administration. Her academic work spans teaching Arabic/Hebrew at all undergraduate levels, supervising degree projects, and advancing pedagogical practices through institutional quality enhancement initiatives.
Månsson's research investigates how religious traditions are mediated through modern Arabic and Hebrew literature, with concentrated analysis of Palestinian narratives, Mahmoud Darwish's poetry, and spatial concepts of place/home. She equally explores Arabic language didactics, developing methodologies for heterogeneous student groups and integrating religious texts into literary theory instruction. Her approach emphasizes leveraging diverse student backgrounds to foster collaborative knowledge construction.
Her publication trajectory (2005-2016) reveals persistent engagement with Arabic literary traditions, particularly examining intersections of religious identity, political conflict, and cultural memory in Palestinian/Egyptian contexts. Recurring themes include the transformation of Western canonical works in Arab literature, Jerusalem's symbolic representation, and poetry as political resistance—demonstrating interdisciplinary synthesis of literary theory, religious studies, and postcolonial analysis.
Månsson actively mentors students in research methodology for degree projects while collaborating institutionally as a pedagogical mentor. She observes colleagues' teaching sessions, facilitates pedagogical discussions, and designs innovative instructional approaches focused on inclusive education. Her dual roles reflect commitment to both disciplinary scholarship and systemic improvement of academic teaching practices across Uppsala University.
