Andy Turner is a Lecturer in Applied Social Studies and Community and Youth Work at the Department of Social, Therapeutic and Community Studies (STaCS) at Goldsmiths, University of London. He holds a doctoral candidate position at the Faiths and Civil Society Unit. With over 30 years of experience, he has worked as a practitioner, activist, trainer, and manager in community and youth work, focusing on marginalized communities in England. He co-founded initiatives like The Kabin and The Hackney Marsh Partnership, promoting education, social enterprise, and anti-poverty efforts. Turner also serves as an independent consultant, facilitator, and trustee for civil-society charities.
Research Interests: His work centers on community development with migrant/refugee populations, cultural relevance of social services, holistic integration strategies, and asset-based approaches to addressing inequality. His book (2022) explores participatory research methodologies and policy implications for marginalized migrant women.
