Sophie Roberts is a Lecturer and Programme Co-Convenor at the Department of Social, Therapeutic and Community Studies (STaCS) at Goldsmiths, University of London. She also serves as the MA Art Psychotherapy Admissions Tutor and is currently the interim Programme Convenor. Her professional background includes over a decade of work as an Art Psychotherapist in the NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), where she held roles as a safeguarding lead and CAMHS team manager. Her expertise spans therapeutic practices within multidisciplinary teams and their impact on vulnerable youth. Outside academia, Roberts co-leads a private art psychotherapy practice and serves on the board of trustees for MOSAC, an organization supporting parents/caregivers of sexually abused children.
Her research focuses on the role of Art Psychotherapy in Multi-Disciplinary Teams, emphasizing its efficacy in supporting marginalized populations. Roberts actively contributes to clinical practice and community outreach through her dual commitments to academic leadership and voluntary service.
