Andrés Fabián Lasagni

Andrés Fabián Lasagni holds the Chair of Laser-based Manufacturing at Dresden University of Technology since 2012 and concurrently heads the Surface Functionalization Group at Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology (IWS) Dresden since 2008. His academic leadership bridges fundamental laser research with industrial manufacturing applications.

His research pioneers bio-inspired laser surface structuring to create micro- and nano-scale functional surfaces, drawing from natural solutions for anti-reflective properties, photonic crystals, and antibacterial applications. This interdisciplinary work integrates physics, chemistry, and biology to advance sustainable manufacturing technologies for large-scale industrial implementation.
