Andrzej Pniewski

Andrzej Pniewski is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, where he has served for 45 years since his 1973 appointment as assistant to Professor Ryszard Semka. He held the deanship from 2005–2008 and pioneered the Architecture of Cultural Spaces program, fundamentally shaping the faculty's academic direction through sustained institutional leadership.

Graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, he built his entire academic career within the institution, progressing through all ranks to achieve full professorship while simultaneously maintaining an active artistic practice that bridges theory and creation.

His research integrates Architecture, Interior Design, and Exhibition Design with Cultural Spaces theory, emphasizing applied arts in functional contexts. This manifests through numerous architectural projects, exhibition layouts, and competition studies that explore spatial narratives within Polish cultural frameworks, particularly through the Architecture of Cultural Spaces program he founded.

His exceptional contributions are honored by:

Professor Pniewski has supervised over one hundred master's theses and fifty bachelor's theses in applied arts, earning repeated rectoral commendations for his pedagogical innovation and organizational leadership that strengthened both faculty operations and institutional reputation through curriculum development and academic governance.
