Andrew Webber is Professor of Modern German & Comparative Culture at the University of Cambridge, where he serves as Head of the German and Dutch Section in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics. He is also Vice-Master of Churchill College and the University's lgbt+ Equality Champion. He earned his PhD in Austrian Modernist writing from Cambridge in 1996, following academic appointments at Queen Mary University of London and subsequent promotions at Cambridge from Assistant Lecturer (1994) to Professor (2010).
His leadership includes acting as Director of the Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH) in 2009-10. International engagements include Distinguished Visitor at UNSW Sydney (2014) and Erich Auerbach Visiting Chair at Universität Tübingen (2015).
