Dr Andrew Warstat is a Senior Lecturer at Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University, specializing in art history and media philosophy. He is a writer, artist, and researcher with a focus on photographic theory, post-humanist practices, and contemporary art criticism. His work bridges artistic practice and academic research, exploring themes like memory, ethics, and the philosophical dimensions of visual culture.
Warstat has curated and exhibited internationally, with notable shows including After the Disaster (2008) and Cardboard Folly (2010-2011). His research engages with thinkers like Adorno, Blanchot, and Kafka, alongside artists such as John Stezaker and Lewis Klahr. He is a member of the Art and Performance Research Hub at Manchester School of Art.
