Andrew Tinker

Professor Andrew Tinker is a Professor of Cardiac Electrophysiology at Queen Mary University of London's Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, affiliated with the William Harvey Research Institute and Clinical Pharmacology & Precision Medicine Centre. His career includes training at Oxford and London, followed by pre/postdoctoral research in the UK and USA focusing on cardiac ion channels and molecular mechanisms. He held a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellowship and a Professorship in Molecular Medicine at University College London before joining Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2011.

Research interests span cardiac electrophysiology, potassium channel function, arrhythmia mechanisms, and molecular medicine. He has contributed to funding committees for major organizations including the British Heart Foundation and MRC. Awards include Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Sciences (2006) and prior leadership roles as Head of Clinical Pharmacology at the William Harvey Research Institute.
