Ross Hunter is a Reader in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Consultant Cardiologist at the Barts Heart Centre, affiliated with Queen Mary University of London's Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. He specializes in arrhythmia management, particularly catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. His research focuses on clinical investigations into arrhythmia mechanisms and treatments, supported by grants from the British Heart Foundation, Barts Charity, and industry partners. He collaborates with engineers at Queen Mary and basic scientists at the William Harvey Research Institute.
Education: Trained in London and the South East, with a PhD from St Bartholomew’s Hospital on AF mechanisms and novel ablation methods. Awards include finalist positions in the 2011 British and US Young Investigator Awards. He supervises five PhD students and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Cardiac Rhythm News, a journal with >3,500 cardiologist readers.
Key research interests include AF mapping technologies (e.g., Cartofinder, ECG-I systems), outcomes research in arrhythmia treatments, and device innovation. His work at Barts Heart Centre, Europe’s largest cardiovascular center, includes pioneering 24/7 arrhythmia emergency services.
