Andrew Skelton is an Associate Professor, Teaching Stream in Mathematics and Statistics at York University, specializing in mathematics pedagogy and transition support. As Coordinator of the Mathematics for Education program, he focuses on improving student transitions from secondary to post-secondary mathematics. Skelton develops diagnostic tools and curricular resources to address preparation gaps.
His scholarship examines mathematics skill development, online course delivery, and teacher education pathways. Current projects include creating digital learning resources and investigating place-based pedagogies. Skelton teaches courses on mathematics education principles and supports future educators through the Math for Education major.
With a background including high school teaching experience, Skelton integrates practical insights into curriculum design. He coordinates outreach initiatives connecting university mathematics with K-12 education systems.
