Andrew Simon is a Senior Lecturer in Middle Eastern Studies at Dartmouth College. A historian of media, popular culture, and the Middle East, he holds a B.A. from Duke University and a Ph.D. from Cornell University, with expertise in interdisciplinary research spanning technology, politics, and cultural production.

His research focuses on the intersection of mass media, resistance movements, and sensory history in the Arab world, particularly through technologies like cassette tapes. His award-winning book Media of the Masses (2022) examines how ordinary technologies shaped Egyptian cultural and political landscapes.
Recent speaking engagements include Harvard University (2024), Middle East Studies Association (2023), University of Pennsylvania (2022), and Northwestern University (2022). He has received research support from the Social Science Research Council and the American Research Center in Egypt.
