Dr. Andrew Sargent is a Lecturer in Medieval History at Keele University's School of Humanities, serving as Academic Conduct Officer during semester 2. He holds a PhD from Keele University, focusing on the early medieval history and archaeology of the Lichfield diocese. His research integrates documentary, archaeological, and topographical evidence to study early medieval landscapes and frontier societies in Mercia and the Anglo-Welsh border region.
Education: BSc Astrophysics (University of Leicester), MA European Historical Archaeology (University of Sheffield), PhD (Keele University). Office hours are Tuesdays 10-11 AM, with flexible appointments available.
Teaching includes undergraduate courses on Anglo-Saxon England, Medieval Europe, and historical research methods. He supervises a current master's student examining the influence of Cnut's Danish dynasty. Research interests extend to interdisciplinary approaches in medieval studies, particularly exploring how people and places shaped early medieval communities.
