معرفی
Andrew Poulos serves as Associate Professor and Area Head in the Department of Psychology at the University at Albany, State University of New York, where he leads the Neural Systems of Emotion and Memory Lab from Life Sciences 1058.
His research identifies neural pathways governing adaptive and maladaptive fear behaviors through integrated neuroanatomical, developmental, molecular biological, and behavioral methodologies. Key investigations include:
- Neuroanatomical and functional interactions between amygdala, hippocampus, and prefrontal cortices
- Ontogeny of learning and memory systems
- Developmental stress-induced alterations in brain structure, behavior, and neuroendocrine function
Dr. Poulos is not accepting new PhD students for the 2025-26 academic year. His work establishes critical connections between neural circuit development and emotional processing disorders, with implications for trauma and anxiety research.
