معرفی
Andrew Pomeroy is a Research Fellow at The University of Western Australia (UWA), based at the Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre within the UWA Oceans Institute. His research focuses on physical processes (waves, currents) affecting benthic ecosystems, sediment transport dynamics in coral reefs, and coastal engineering solutions. He also collaborates with the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) and the US Geological Survey. Pomeroy holds a BEng (Hons) from the University of Melbourne, an MSc (cum laude) from Delft University of Technology, NTNU, and UPC, and a PhD from UWA. His work bridges academic research and practical coastal infrastructure design, including tsunami warning systems.
Research Interests:
- Hydrodynamic processes influencing sediment distribution in coral reefs
- Climatic and anthropogenic impacts on coastal ecosystems
- Coastal engineering resilience strategies
Scientific Contributions: While no specific articles are listed, his research has informed studies on reef resilience and coastal dynamics, highlighted in media releases such as 'DNA reveals the past and future of coral reefs' (2022) and 'The double burden of climate change' (2022).
Teaching & Outreach: Lectures in Coastal and Physical Oceanography, Geomorphology, and coordinates courses with regional universities. Active in public engagement through media collaborations and educational resources.
