Camille Grimaldi is a physical oceanographer and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the School of Earth and Oceans, University of Western Australia (UWA). She is affiliated with the UWA Oceans Institute and holds a Doctor of Philosophy. Her primary role includes research as an AIMS@UWA Post-doctoral Research Associate, focusing on coral reef hydrodynamics, climate change impacts, and oceanographic drivers of reef resilience.
Her expertise spans coral reef oceanography, numerical modelling of coastal processes, and fieldwork methodologies. Notably, she contributed to the development of the Reef Adapt tool for climate-smart marine management decisions. She has been recognized with the 2019 Robson and Robertson Award for her contributions to marine science.
Her research emphasizes coral reef resilience, connectivity, and thermodynamics, with a focus on remote atolls in Western Australia. Collaborations include studies on coral spawning dynamics, genetic stability, and the long-term stability of marine forests under climate change. She has also published datasets on hydrodynamic flow dynamics within coral reef atolls.
Key projects include investigating local coral connectivity mechanisms and exploring how biophysical processes influence ecosystem resilience. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to life below water and climate action.
