Andrew McIntyre is an Assistant Professor of Art in the Department of Art and Art History at Baylor University. He holds a BFA in Ceramics from the University of Mississippi (2011) and an MFA in Ceramics from Syracuse University (2015). Prior to Baylor, he served as a Technician and Instructor of Ceramics at the University of Mississippi. His work focuses on creating functional pottery that explores beauty, utility, and human interaction, drawing inspiration from 19th-century Chinese Rice Grain porcelain and stained glass aesthetics. McIntyre has exhibited nationally and internationally, with features in Ceramics Monthly and Pottery Making Illustrated. He was recognized as an Emerging Artist by Ceramic Monthly in 2018. His studio practice combines wheel-throwing, mark-making, and firing techniques to create dynamic forms and surfaces.
McIntyre’s artistic philosophy emphasizes the visceral connection between objects and users, blending visual, physical, and emotional experiences. His research interests include material experimentation and the cultural history of ceramics. He is affiliated with Baylor’s arts programs and maintains an active studio practice.
