Jennifer Graff

Jennifer Graff serves as Professor of Art and Department Head within the Visual Arts program at the University of North Georgia. With over 25 years of experience in ceramics, she teaches all levels and processes in ceramics across multiple courses including Ceramics I-V, Advanced Hand Building, Advanced Wheel Throwing, and Ceramic Materials.

Jennifer's research explores both functional and sculptural processes in clay, with a focus on figurative elements. Her current work depicts characters whose interactions aim to be humorous while subtly confronting less flattering human tendencies. She has developed expertise in various clay processes including hand building, wheel-throwing, mold-making, firing techniques and glaze chemistry, which she incorporates into her teaching and artistic practice.

Her recent exhibition history shows a consistent presence in the ceramics community, with featured works in national and regional exhibitions including (Im)Balance in Ceramics Monthly (2021), a solo exhibition Perspectives: Georgia Potters and Collectors (2021), and The Emerging National 2020 at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Macon, Georgia.

Professor Graff actively mentors students in ceramics, with documented advisees including Sue Compton, Lauren Bradshaw, and Dustin Hogan. Her academic contributions extend beyond the classroom through work with UNG's LEAP initiative, service in the Honors Program, and curricular development for Visual Arts. She maintains a professional art practice with works available for purchase through her personal website, demonstrating her commitment to both teaching and artistic creation.
